Scaffold calculator for Tube-Lock® façade scaffolds

Enter the length and height of your façades and see straight away which Tube-Lock® scaffold material you need: quantities and weight per item, a drawing per façade and a 3D model. Add the calculation to the quote list in one click.

How it works

  1. Enter façades. Length and height per façade, and optionally lift height, transom, bay length, boarded lifts, base lift and ladder accesses.
  2. Review the bill of materials. Standards, ledgers, transoms, couplers, base plates, ties, ladders and scaffold boards, with the total weight and the scaffold area in m².
  3. Request a quotation. Put the calculation and any separate items in the quote list and send the request to Van Thiel United sales.

Indicative pre-calculation, not a structural check. The final bill of materials and the prices follow in the quotation.

Frequently asked questions

What does the scaffold calculator calculate?

An indicative bill of materials for a Tube-Lock® façade scaffold: per façade the standards, ledgers, transoms, couplers, base plates, wall anchor tubes, ladders, toe board couplers and scaffold boards, with the total weight and the scaffold area in m². The calculation rules are those of the Van Thiel United scaffold calculation.

Which assumptions does the calculator use?

Bay length 1.80 m or 1.60 m, lift height 2.2 m by default (up to 3 m, with a note that this departs from the Dutch scaffolding guideline), transom 6+4 boards (also 6+3, 7+3, 7+4 and the renovation transoms 4+3 and 3+2), scaffold class 4 (300 kg/m² between the standards, 150 kg/m² on the slider), a tie every two lifts, a longitudinal brace in every fifth bay and plain transoms on lifts without a deck. The calculation is set up for scaffold class 4 (masonry). Per façade you set the lift height, transom, bay length, number of boarded lifts, a base lift with boards and the number of ladder accesses.

What does the calculator not include?

End returns (end guardrails and braces at open ends), corners of wrap-around scaffolds, and netting or sheeting (these need extra ties designed by an engineer). If a ladder access passes lifts without a deck, each needs a landing; the calculator flags this but does not count it yet.

What does scaffold class 4 mean?

The class is the permitted load on the working platform: class 1 = 75, 2 = 150, 3 = 200, 4 = 300, 5 = 450 and 6 = 600 kg/m². Class 4 is the usual class for bricklaying; the calculator is set up for it.

What is Tube-Lock®?

Tube-Lock® are scaffold tubes (ø 48.3 × 3.2 mm, S235) with an integrated cast-iron connector that joins two tubes without loose parts, which makes the traditional sleeve coupler unnecessary. The tubes come in lengths from 0.5 to 4 metres.

Does the calculator show prices?

No. The calculator gives quantities and weights. Prices are in the quotation from Van Thiel United.

How do I request a quotation?

Put the calculation, optionally with separate items, in the quote list and send the request. You receive a confirmation by e-mail straight away and a reply from our sales team within two working days.
